Lady Cheryl R. Pyles, is the First Lady of the Tabernacle of Praise Family Worship Center in Houston TX.  She is the second child of seven, and was born and raised in Houston, TX.  After graduating from Houston Technical Institute/The High School of Health Care Professions, she went on to a successful nursing career, and later attended Grambling State University where she received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing in 1994.  She received her certification in Christian Counseling in May 2011 and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Theology from Emmanuel School of the Bible in May 2014.  She is continuing her educational pursuits in her desire to grow and expand her biblical knowledge and help to expand the Kingdom of God.

 

The month of June holds a significant place in the life of Lady Cheryl.  She married her husband of 27 years, Pastor John S. Pyles Sr. and is the proud mother of three children, sons Tavares, John II, and daughter Maryjah.  She is also the proud grandmother of Bryson Alexander Pyles.

 

In May 1999, Lady Cheryl stood with her husband to begin what has become one of the fastest growing churches in North Houston – The Tabernacle of Praise Family Worship Center, where she serves as the ministry leader of the Women of Praise, an active member of the P.U.S.H. Ministry, and the Voices of Praise.  Lady Cheryl serves on the Executive board for the Food Distribution Ministry, and she also takes an active role as mentor to numerous women throughout the congregation.

 

She is an advocate of heath and education within the family and congregation and organizes and coordinates our churches annual Health Awareness and Education Fair.  As a nurse, she promotes education and prevention throughout the community.  Her passion is being a positive example and making a life-changing imprint in the lives of everyone she comes in contact with. Her magnetic personality makes her an instant ray of hope and encouragement for all of those who come in contact with her.

 

In January of 2014, 1st Lady Cheryl decided to make a career change and follow her love and passion for cooking.  She is the President and Director of Operations for Kouzan’s Creole Kitchen, a food catering service.
